But, did you know that common burninghabits may be diminishing the life of your candle? Here are some care freetips to prolong the life of your favorite candles and be sure you are getting your moneys worth.
Four hour rule - memory ring = happy, long- living candles
Tip1: Set your candle up for success. The initial burn is important to setup the candle for the rest of its burning life. To start, yourcandle will need to remain lit for at least one to two hours and youwill want to be sure the top layer of wax is completely liquefied. Byburning the entire top layer of wax, you are will not be let with a 'memoryring.' Memory rings are kind of like little puddles in your candle. Theyleave a little dent in the top layer of wax, which causes your candleto tunnel and burn unevenly.
Tip 2: Snip the wick. Cutting the wick tojust under a centimeter in length is arguably the most important candletip. By keeping a short wick, less wax is absorbed to be burned,assuring that the candle is only taking in as much wax as it needs tosupply a more contained flame.
Tip 3: Four Hour Rule. Candles should burn for no more than three tofour hours at a time. This ensures that your candle is liquefying andburning safely. This also will prolong the life of your candle. You caneither blow out, or use the lid to extinguish the flame of your candle.Placing the lid on to extinguish the flame will contain all the 'after burn' smoke too. Allow the candle to re-solidify and trim the wick before burning again.
Tip 4: Know when to say goodbye. Once you have about a half an inch ofwax, it is time to move on. Burning any further, increases the potential fordangerous damage to the candle jar.
Tip 5: Fall in love again. Once you toss your old candle, it is time tofall in love all over again with a new B. Witching candle. Whether it isthe same fragrance, or a seasonal change up, our candles are sure to impress.
